Welcome to CultureGrits.com, a Memphis-focused online magazine, updated approximately biweekly.
About the sections: The Nonprofit Spotlight section profiles a local nonprofit organization working to change Memphis for the better. The Personal Essay section is a Memphian’s first-hand account of an issue or experience that may be relevant to the others in the community. The Photo Essay section is a collection of photographs examining one subject. The Evolution of Memphis Soul section describes the history of one of Memphis’ most important musical forms. The Inside the Industry section describes the people and organizations that make the local music industry tick. The Backstory section looks at a successful business or individual and explains how and why they achieved their success. The Food section is restaurant and other food related reviews. The Fiction section highlights the work of local fiction writers.
These sections and the magazine in general are a work in progress, and will grow and change as this project gains momentum. If you are interested in submitting something please send an email.
